Hyperion Planning

We are please to provide the following Hyperion Planning training courses developed by the leading Oracle Hyperion training providers, 123OLAP.

Data Warehouse Consultants APPLIED pLANNING

For students who have already been trained on Essbase, we teach you how to create and manage Planning applications in this 3-day Applied Planning course. This Applied Planning course has been developed for Version 11, and it is also available for System 9 and prior versions. The class begins with a general overview of Planning and Planning terms, the architecture of all the Planning components, and how they are commonly used. We go over all the steps to create an application from scratch. This involves some prep work outside of Planning and leads to developing the application in Workspace. We modify existing dimensions and build out the hierarchies using the Planning web client.

The next section of the course focuses on options available for building dimensions with Classic Planning. We cover the mechanics and cover strategies for automating the build process using the OutlineLoad utility, ODI, and DIM. We finish up the section by reviewing data loads using Load Rules to load the Planning database. The course then focuses on tasks that end-users must perform during the planning cycle. We walk students through creating and modifying forms, working with forms to enter data, adding annotations, and the rest of the form features such as running business rules and managing task lists. We cover how to use the forms in the Smart View client. We finish up the end-user perspective by going through Workflow Management and the process of submitting a plan for review. The final section of the course covers Security and other administration topics such as automation and deployment. The last section of this class is dedicated to an overview of managing applications using EPM Architect. We go over managing dimensions, automating builds through raw data files or interface tables, and deploying to applications.

Data Warehouse Consultants APPLIED PLANNING WITH ESSBASE ESSENTIALS

The 5-day Applied Planning with Essbase Essentials course is designed to take students through the step-by-step process of developing and implementing a Hyperion Planning application. We start with a general overview of Essbase and Planning terms and the architecture of all the Planning components, and how they are commonly used. The first half of the course is centered in building a foundation of knowledge on Essbase, the underlying technology of Planning. We go through multi-dimensional modeling, using load rules to load data, architecture of Block Storage cubes, and calculation fundamentals for consolidations.

Once the foundation in Essbase has been established, we walk through all the steps to create a planning application, how to modify existing dimensions and build out the hierarchies using the Planning web client. We then show developers how to build out dimensions using Classic Planning and by using EPMa. We cover the mechanics and cover strategies for automating the build process such as interface tables. We finish up by reviewing data loads using Load Rules to load the Planning database.

Next, the course focuses on tasks end-users must perform during the planning cycle. Students create and modify forms, enter data, add annotations. Running business rules and managing task lists is also covered. We review how to use the forms in the Smart View client and finish up the end-user perspective by going through Workflow Management and the process of submitting a plan for review. The final section of the course covers Security and other administration topics such as automation and deployment.

Data Warehouse Consultants EPMA ESSENTIALS

The 1-day EPMA Essentials course is designed to take students through the step-by-step process of building from scratch and managing applications using Enterprise Performance Management Architect (EPMA). The first portion of the course is centered with a general overview of EPMA terms, the architecture of the components, and how they are commonly used. Here we discuss design strategies and highlight environments where EPMA is a good fit. Next, using Planning as our primary focus, we will walk through creating an application using the EPMA Wizard. We will then show how to manage the hierarchies manually in the editor and how to work with shared libraries. From there we will cover topics such as importing dimensions with flat files and using interface tables. We will finish up by showing how to deploy the dimensions to applications and explore the use of the EPMA Batch Client.
