We are pleased to provide training courses developed by the leading Oracle Hyperion training providers, 123OLAP. All of our courses are delivered by experienced and certified Oracle Hyperion consultants.

The courses are designed to be practical and applied; we share real-world solutions that have been implemented. Besides being used in class, the training manuals have been developed for later use as comprehensive reference manuals. Practical exercises will make the concepts presented in class stick with you.

After our courses you will have gained practical knowledge that you can immediately begin to apply to your Hyperion implementation. Our goal is to help you leverage and get the most from Oracle Hyperion.

The next public Essbase training courses are scheduled for:

     * 26th Mar  - Smart View (1 day)

     * 23rd Apr  - Smart View (1 day)

     * 24th Apr  - Essbase ASO & MDX (1 day)

MDX Training Course

Applied Essbase

Learning how to make maximum use of Essbase is dependent upon two things—understanding the tool itself, its features and functionality, and learning best practices for implementation strategies. The objective of this five-day Applied Essbase course is to empower students with the skills necessary to develop and to successfully deploy their Essbase applications. Developed and taught by experienced Essbase consultants from an implementation perspective, this comprehensive course includes rigorous hands on exercises, real world advice, and step-by-step implementation methods.

MDX Training Course

Essbase ASO/MDX

For companies that are planning to or are already using Aggregate Storage Option (ASO), this class delves deep into ASO and MDX in order to familiarize customers with the capabilities and limitations of ASO databases. Usually sold as an add-on 1 day to the Applied Workshop class, much of the class is organized so that people familiar with Block Storage can quickly convert that knowledge into working with ASO databases. We start by covering key differences with Block Storage databases and then show you how to convert from BSO to ASO for cubes where this may be appropriate. The last section of the course covers the essentials of MDX – the new formulas and query language introduced in System 9. We take formulas and logic we introduced in our Applied Calculation section (for BSO databases) and convert them to MDX so that you can see the solutions side by side

Prerequisites: Recommend some experience administering or developing in Essbase. This course is most often combined with the 3-day Applied Essbase Workshop.

Essbase Power User

This two-day course is geared toward users of Essbase and the Excel Add-In and / or Smart View. The goal on the first day is to enable students to understand more about the possibilities of using Essbase for analysis and building new analytical models. It goes beyond basic Excel Add-In and Smart View training by getting users familiar with some of the back-end processes used in designing and developing Essbase models. We show students how to take existing excel models and reports, and re-model them in Essbase. We also show them the basics of loading data and the calculation capabilities in Essbase. These students finish day one with the ability to determine additional appropriate uses for Essbase, which helps leverage their investment in the software, as well as having a solid understanding of Essbase which enables them to be very successful with the reporting and analysis.

The second day focuses on the mechanics of doing reporting and analysis with the Excel Add-In and/or Smart View. We show students all the features and tricks for extending the power of Excel into Essbase reporting. Next, we move into the mechanics of building reports with the Excel Add-In and explore some of the more advanced features such as the Query Designer and cascading reports. For customers on Essbase System 9 or later that are planning on using Smart View, we go into the mechanics of using Smart View for ad-hoc analysis. We go through most of the ad-hoc equivalents that were covered in the Excel Add-In portion of the class. We finish the class with a hands-on workshop using the customer’s Essbase application. This allows students to tie the concepts learned throughout the day to their own world.

Smart View / Essbase Add-In

This one-day course is geared toward users of the Smart View and/or Essbase Add-In. We show students all the features and tricks for extending the power of Excel into Essbase reporting. We start by familiarizing students with the essential vocabulary and basic understanding of Excel databases. Next, we move into the mechanics of building reports with Smart View and the Essbase Add-In and explore some of the more advanced features and gotcha’s. Most of the coverage applies to the Essbase Add-in and Smart View – we can emphasize/de-emphasize either one or both depending on the client preference. Since most of the class is conducted on our generic training model, we finish the class with a hands-on workshop using the customer’s application. This allows students to tie the concepts learned throughout the day to their own world.
